Bilstein Shocks are made in Germany or the USA with precision German Engineering
Design and are further improved to meet Australian requirements with technical knowledge
from Bilstein Australia and input from specialist suppliers like CalOffroad.
For over 40 years the high-pressure monotube shock absorber has largely dominated motor racing and had great success with off-road
performance.
The Bilstein speciality is the high-pressure monotube shock absorber.
Where most shock bodies are cut from a piece of steel tubing, Bilstein uses a unique seamless extrusion process for greater strength and uniform 2mm thickness.
The finished body is mated with a solid induction-hardened, chrome-plated and polished shaft, specially machined valving
components and high quality seals.
They’re made to last hence the lack of stone guards, again pointing to extreme strength and durability.
All Bilstein shocks absorbers instantaneously self-adjust to changing road surfaces; in addition, their performance does not gradually decline from age, use or heat, requiring no compensating manual adjustments as with conventional multi-tube shocks.
Tuning a shock absorber for local conditions and for a specific Vehicle and
Model is almost infinitely variable.
All Bilsteins contain oil, under pressure with nitrogen gas. Altering the shim stacks either side of the piston,
the venturi diameter or the diameter of the piston adjusts the rate, both of
initial resistance to road shock and rebound control.
